“The beautiful spring came; and when Nature resumes her loveliness, the human soul is apt to revive also.”
Harriet Ann Jacobs
Though January is often the time we’re told to turn over a new leaf, springtime is when the natural momentum exists to create change. Winter’s invitation is to slow down, rest, and nourish our bodies and souls. Spring’s invitations are about coming out into the world once more, reemerging from our cocoons to engage with the new life that blooms around us.
You might already experience this by having the urge to clear out your closets, reorganize your spaces, prepare the garden beds, and go on nature walks. Flowers will soon bloom, and the trees will boast their green leaves. New life is coming, and the energy behind spring’s force echoes in our hearts, minds, and bodies.
We can use this time to intentionally lean into what nature is already doing by taking action as we turn our attention to what needs to be released, welcomed, and given space within us. Even taking time to notice what is emerging in the world outside our homes can encourage new growth in our hearts.
This month, we’ll focus on taking springtime up on her invitations to release what no longer serves, welcome the shifts a new season brings, recognize the emergence of hope in the new life that abounds, connect to the natural world, and embrace creativity.
When we clear out the stuff in our hearts, minds, and lives that take up space but no longer serve us well, we prioritize what matters most for the season we are in now. The invitation to let go of the old is one that serves us well as we refresh the home of our heart.
The shift in seasons isn’t just an outer one. There are energies behind each season, and springtime is a prime time to put new ideas into practice. It is a time for blooming—not all at once, but day by day and step by step. Embracing this shift can allow us to unfold as we are meant to—naturally and in our own time.
The emergence of hope is all around us as we notice where new life buds and blossoms. It is a time to reconnect with the things that bring us life-giving energy—ones that help us ground in the joy, peace, and love of who we are, while also encouraging us to imagine what else is possible.
By taking time to connect with the natural world, we more readily see the echoes of new life blooming in our own hearts, minds, and lives. Getting outside and engaging with nature is just plain good for us, no matter the season, but springtime is a special opportunity to watch the world unfold and awaken after winter’s quiet rest.
Spring is the perfect opportunity to embrace creativity. Inspiration abounds as we allow the momentum of the season to motivate us in personal growth. There is a natural shift in energy toward connectedness that creativity thrives on.
Nature doesn’t rush the process of spring. Let’s allow what is already budding in us to blossom over time. We can clear the garden beds and open the windows of our hearts to more readily recognize the shifts, but the shifts are already happening. Instead of trying to force things, let’s be more intentional with the work that is revealing itself.
As spring unfolds, so do we.
Allow, allow, allow.
Soften into it.
The world is harsh, but your heart can be a safe space always.
Join me in welcoming the invitations of this season and making space for the new life that is already beginning to emerge.
